To be fair, I’m not sure three towers and a swing qualify it as a castle.
Fact: I actually did build this a few days ago after having it in my closet for several months. I only really bought it to get Shining Armor and Cadance.
Fabrication: I don’t own Pinkie’s train, and there’s a reasonable chance I never will.
Fact: I do refer to it as “Shining Armor and Cadance’s Big Dumb Plastic Castle.”
Fabrication: Instead of the train, I call that RC car, “Pinkie’s Stupid Plastic Car.” The train is at least era appropriate.
Fact: I do occasionally feel the strong urge to build something.
Fabrication: Reef and I kind of agree, in spite of it being big and dumb, it does make for a good display stand for my figures.
Fact: I do have an Ikea within reasonable driving distance.
Fabrication: I don’t have a Lego Store near me. Frowny face.
I’ve been cleaning and organizing lately, and in rearranging my furniture, I wanted to come up with a good place to display all my various figures. Previously, I just had them all sit on a shelf arranged tightly in order to fit. After moving some stuff, I thought it was finally time to bring the castle out. Like I said, there’s something satisfying about building something to me. Legos, bookcases, office chairs, whatever it is, I get a bit of a rush putting things together. They’re still a bit wedged together, but you have to admit, it does look kind of classy.
I also got the full Aurora plush set in late last week! I’m a sucker for plush, and these did not disappoint! The most striking thing about them is definitely the hair. As far as I can tell, these are the only officially released plush that are really attempting to interpret their hair in 3D, and I think for the most part they’ve succeeded. Pinkie’s mane isn’t a mass of puff, but rather, they’ve attached individual fabric curls. Their unifying gimmick is that each of their hairstyles incorporates glitter in some way. Twi, Rainbow, and Rarity use reflective fabric, while AJ, Pinkie, and Fluttershy have glitter bits stuck in their hair. The reflective fabric definitely comes off as more attractive a design, and it is possible some of the glitter flakes can come loose off of the others. I would have personally preferred that they just go without the glitter flakes, but it’s not so bad as to hold it against them.
They are being sold as 10” plush, though they sit a little shorter than the Funrise set. They also have a more… compact design that bears resemblance to their filly versions. They’re firmly stuffed, especially around the legs, giving them more stability when standing them up. Overall, I have to give these high recommendations. The Funrise 10” line still wins out in value and hugability, but if you’re looking for something large and freaking adorable to display, this is one of the best options out there.
And only one week until my collection will finally include a dragon!
